The story of SLModders origin is diverse. We try to summarize the key moments on this road from the very begining to nowadays, inlcuding game releases, tools and other modder groups, which impacted and inspired us.
The first hungarian know fan site was streetlegal.freeweb.hu by Alexease.
It contained a wide variety of addons and patches for the original Street Legal.
Later the hosting moved under HSW at: slc.hsw.hu and renamed to Street Legal Catalog.
The first Street Legal was released on CD-ROM.
Developed by Invictus-Games Ltd. and published by Activision Value Publishing, Inc.
The first thematic Hungarian Street Legal forum was started by a user called Rigley on 2002.08.15 and it’s still alive today.
Later this forum became the common meetup place for every Hungarian player for the SL and SLR:R games.
Activision releaed the “Invictus – Street Legal Tutorial no.1 : Car Import 1.0. (SLT)” aka. Street Legal Dev Kit in short, to let the public extend the game with custom cars.
We can say, this was the birth date of Street Legal modding.
You can still download it from us.
The second installment was released in May 7, 2003
Mentioned by Street Legal Catalog, was available at www.street-legal.tk
On December 12, 2003 ALIENwoods’ personal Street Legal fan site at: alienwoods.atw.hu became online and targeted Street Legal as its main topic.
Running on pure HTML, it contained early mods from other modders as downloadable content.
Later SLR:R mods were also added to the site.
Invictus CEO, Tamás Kozák announced the new working title: Cross Racing Championship aka. CRC at SG.hu forums.
GOM-Team was one of the biggest site on the world for SL and SLR:R modders to meet. They also organized real-life meetups. The site later hosted and managed by Singh.
Few domains are also registered to GOM such as:
street-legal-mods.com
street-legal-red-line-mods.com
